So when exactly are we getting our studio assignments?

Does anyone know?

Typically, in the past, it would be within this next week (first week April).

Does anyone know what exact day during the weekend of the 9-11 the Tisch Accepted Students day will be? or is it any day that weekend? Thanks!

We just got the invite for the accepted student events in the mail. The Tisch event is on Saturday April 10 from 9 to 11 am at the Skirball Center.

I was looking on a facebook group for tisch students and someone said that studio assignments would not be available until april 15th :(

aldonn, in all the years I’ve been observing Tisch admissions (my D graduated 3 years ago!), I don’t recall studio assignments ever arriving as late as the 15th. It’s usually within a week of receiving your decision.

I would imagine it will also be before the invited student event.

Yes…in other years, the accepted student event has included a session where representatives of the studios met with students.

Last year, not all the studios were represented, but the session was helpful to some.

In addition, it is possible to tour dorms on the day of the accepted student event. We found that very interesting.

do the studio decisions come by mail or email?

All of us who have had kids who have gotten into Tisch in the past, can only share what was done in the past and can’t guarantee exact dates and so on about this year (already some things this year in how they notified applicants was a bit different).

But when my kid got accepted five years ago, the studio notification came in snail mail around April 7. I think. The accepted student event (then called Saturday in the Square) was on April 9.

I have the letter about the student assignment to CAP21 and it is dated April 1 but I do recall that it came about a week after the acceptance package which came around March 31 or April 1.

But students knew their studio before arriving at the accepted student event.

I have to admit that five years ago, we also didn’t know when we’d learn about studio placement and when the acceptance package came, we called to ask and they actually told me the studio over the phone. Tisch will likely kill me for telling this story as everyone is gonna call and I don’t know that they would tell you (I was surprised in fact as I was only calling to ask WHEN we would be notified). So, we knew the studio around April 1 and then the snail mail came around April 7.

My prediction after keeping tabs on this now for several years is that you will learn of your studio next week.

PS…I just looked up in my past clients’ email files and see that one of my students in 2008 got his studio placement on April 4.

I spoke with Drama Admissions last Thursday the 1st of April. They told me that the studio assignments will be emailed by Wednesday the 7th. They had not, at the time, finished making the studio decisions yet and that it does not matter who or when someone calls, the decision will only be delivered via email to the student.

They also said that your assignment is final. You can not, for example, be assigned to Horizons and then request a change. For incoming students, your choice is the assigned studio or some other college/university.

Just called Tisch undergraduate drama. They will be sending email notifications today, tomorrow and Friday!! I don’t know why they can’t just do it all in one mailing since so many are waiting and so many decisions seem to hinge on this. At least they are sending out notifications before the invited student event this Saturday! We’ll just have to hang in there a little longer…

UGH! Well, at this point… waiting is waiting!

has ANYONE gotten their assignment yet? gahhh, with my luck, ill be one of the people getting the email on friday.

fyi, theres no way i can last that long without possibly getting violent.

I am so unimpressed with how NYU has handled this whole entire notification process, beginning with those silly cryptic “make your travel plans” emails to not giving any sense of what the student was admitted for – not even just the studio, but the program itself. We still haven’t had one bit of communication that even says “Drama” on it. Yes, we know that the student is accepted for what they applied for, but still, it would make us feel better to see the word Drama program somewhere!!

Well, if you go to Accepted Students’ Day, they do a really nice presentation for the families and make everyone feel very special. :)

They’ll probably make the initial e-mail less cryptic next year…bet they had a lot of calls from confused/annoyed people.

If you know that NYU only accepts you for the college to which you applied, then why are you so unimpressed? Clearly, anyone who is accepted after applying to and auditioning for Tisch, and who receives one of these notifications, has been accepted to Tisch. The studio assignments always come out later than the official acceptance, usually within a week.

Be happy, people. This is good news! :)

Well, as the parent of a young actor accepted ED, we feel like we’ve been waiting for quite some time now to hear from NYU. The Studio Assignment is HUGE, and it’s natural for everyone to be on pins and needles right now–ED or RD. This is the core of what these kids have been working towards. Word from their college of choice would be greatly appreciated right now. And I must admit, as a parent, this is frustrating.

Nuff said. Not trying to fuel the fire. Just saying …

In some sense I think we have lost our ability to wait patiently and with a sense of expectation. In a culture that expects immediate gratification can’t we just enjoy the excitment our accepted S & D’s have. There a whole lot of kids who have gotten rejection letters and have nothing to wait for from NYU. Having said that I will look forward to not having dreams about emails and strange studio goings on. :)

Has anyone gotten their studio assignments? Or is everyone still waiting? Because I am having a really hard time waiting right now. I want my studio so bad!
