i know you are there lurking. anyone know when they started hearing back last year? what are you plans if you don't get off the list?

I heard that they do some before may 1, but that is just a rumor. If I don’t get off the wait list I will be going to Virginia Tech next year. You?

well in the past a few kids each year at our school do hear by may 1 or before but idk how they will do it this year. my counselor said to just keep checking the admissions blog-they might release some decisions early-or wait till mid may. anyway, I’m heading to emory if i don’t get off the list.

UNC has offered a limited amount of spots off the waitlist as of today…

yeah, so how will they notify people if they are accepted off the list-email? or will it just be randomly posted on the myunc page?

^^^^When my D came off the wait list, they called her on her cell. But that was four years ago.

laxxxbro—u should have received an email today from UNC updating you on the waitlist…did you receive one?

Hey I got a little email from them a little bit after the post.

^^^^^^and…?

One of my friends just got notified today that she got off the waitlist from her account. Now I’m more excited for Carolina :D

Oh I’m still on the waitlist:(

How many rounds do they usually do?

They will do as many notifications as they need to. My friend’s son was wait-listed five years ago. He was still on the wait-list in June so he committed to another state school. They took him to orientation at that school, and when they returned home there was a letter from UNC telling him that he was in. It depends on a lot of circumstances-students who get into several schools often wait until very late to commit so it’s late when they notify the other schools that they will not be attending. The other schools then notify someone on their wait-list, and those students back out of another school. Then that school has spaces. So it’s a domino effect and can go on and on. Do they tell you how far down you are on the wait-list? Definitely don’t give up yet- there’s still time.

thanks. no the email basically said they offered a few spots to a small group. hopefully meaning there are more

I had an IS friend who got off the waitlist literally the day before graduation in mid June. I believe that was the last round last year.

I’m on the WL as well. I received an email yesterday saying that they’ll keep my application “active” on the waitlist but that they have offered admissions to a select few people.

I’m heading to USC in the fall if I don’t hear back from UNC.

Last year they took 192 from the waitlist.

I was wondering to myself the other day about the IS/OS percentages. They can offer spots based on the 82/18 percentage, but I’m curious to know what the pct actually ends up being when all the acceptances are in. You can only correct so much if you have a small wait list.

Got in - off the waitlist. Now let’s see what financial aid they will offer to this poor OOS student. :)

LuLuBB: When did you get in? Did they call you?

whynotunc: No call, just an email last week saying to check my application status, followed by several other financial aid reminder emails.

LuLU…when do you have to decide by?? What state ar you from?? What is your other choice college?
