I really haven't left the DC area. My wife is still there as is my mortgage. I was in DC last week for a training session. It was nice see my former colleagues, but I do not miss working there. I'll be back in NoVA 12/24-1/5.

I do like Madison though. Living in a small city with a large University and all that adds is great. Best off all--no driving on the Beltway. It's 15-20 minutes by bus and foot from the stop to my office. Actually it's 105 stair steps and an uphill climb to my office from the bus.

How does your son like Ohio U?

jvd where are you in Alaska?? We have been in Anchorage 3 years , after 15y in Abq/Santa Fe NM, before that Cleveland, college was Baltimore, also born and raised in Baltimore.

Crabby, I am getting so confused....must be age...but are you the one who lives in Anchorage with a high school son involved in theater or are you the one who has a freshman D in college at...possibly Tufts?

My brother and his family lives in Anchorage.

I was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, but I moved to Idaho when I was 7, in 1995.

Born in Milwaukee - live in Minnesota.

soozievt: D is at Tufts! She is very happy studying international relations, loves doing ESL work, debating. D2 is a junior in high school-East Anch- involved in track,x-country running, youth symphony,UAA wind ensemble. We begin the college search for D2 Spring Break. Here we go AGAIN..........

Crabbylady...

We live in Palmer. Next door to the Mat-Su Community College. One reason we moved here is so our kids could walk next door to go to school if they wanted to. Didn't realize DD would outgrow it before the end of her Junior year in HS. She has been commuting to UAA since last Jan to take physics, chem, calc and spanish.

D2 is a freshman at Palmer High and we still homeschool a 13 and 10 year old.

soozievt, I believe MassDad lives in our neighborhood. He certainly fits the description you offered, and my D and his used to play together in elementary school days. Small world . . .

3togo--Are you a Brookline HS parent also?

Almost ... my oldest is in 8th grade right now and quite ready to move up to BHS next year. What year(s) are your kids?

LittleMother...tell MassDad to pop in once in a while here cause lots of us from last year are still here and sharing "followup stories". His D plays violin, I think, but I in any case was in a youth orchestra. I hope she is happy at UChicago.

Crabby....forgive me on the mixup. I know we had "talked" in the past but I also did with another Anchorage mom but that was on the musical theater forum. Yes, I know you have a D at Tufts, my alma mater, a college my freshman D strongly considered attending last April. I am glad to hear your D likes it so much as I thought she would. The ride my D had back to Brown after Thanksgiving, was with a student who goes to Tufts who has a sister at Brown and they stopped at Tufts to drop off some of the kids in the car and so it was funny for her to be back on Tufts campus. She is so happy at Brown though I do not doubt she would have also been at Tufts. My niece goes to high school in Anchorage. She is in tenth grade. I did get confused when I saw you post because the other Anchorage mom who posts on a different thread, well it so happens that her son is friends with my niece (which all these coincidences came up in an email with my niece last night) but I did not know that when posting with that mom but have not seen her online lately, and then I saw your post and my mind got confused.

I REALLY need to keep some sort of list of posting names by the computer and who is who. I can't keep it all straight!

Susan

:::Waving hi to Crabby Lady! ::: I wonder if our kids have met at Tufts?

Add me to the NJ list, please?

Born/raised Vancouver, BC; lived in Norway for 6 years; Boca Raton, and now a suburb of Houston, TX (14 years)

Dallas, TX (transplant from the NE many years ago)
S in boarding school in NE

maure

bookworm
No, but I suppose IBM has an office here!

soozievt, my H and MassDad see each other at business functions. MassDad's D is enjoying herself at UChicago, and yes, she plays violin, and very well when I've heard her. I'll be sure to relay your msg.

3togo, my D is a senior at BHS and my S is a senior at UCLA. Both attended Baker.

musicmom, by any chance are you involved with your high school music program???
Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, now living on Long Island for the past 14 years. Son just received ED to Columbia University, we're done and so excited!

Little Mother, thanks for passing that on to MassDad.

Back in grad school, I did an internship related to the Brookline schools. I don't know if it still exists but it was the Brookline Teachers Center and I was working doing staff development for teachers related to their elem schools.
