So, where would you rather go...

Would you rather go to USC, Boston College, Mills College, or Smith College (assuming that you were accepted to all and you were female)....also, explain your decision....

I would get rid of Mills and Smith right away (I'm not into the whole single sex thing). I would also get rid of BC because it's overwhelmingly Jesuit (and I'm Jewish). I'd pick USC.

I would pick USC or BC because I'm also not really into the whole single-sex college thing. I wouldn't go to any of them though, because USC is too preppy for me and in a ghetto and BC is Jesuit. It would be a tough choice between those two but I would probably pick USC.

"USC is too preppy for me and in a ghetto"

It isn't, really. It's not exactly up in the hills, but it is hardly in the ghetto.

Smith
Mills
USC
BC

USC and BC are much too conservative for me (more so BC) and they are also too large. Smith is supposedly a better school than Mills.

Smith

My cousin went there and truly enjoyed it. She is graduating from med school now, so things worked out for her. I have not visited the school, nor did I apply, but I have heard that it is ultra liberal, which would be a downside, as I would prefer something middle-of-the-road.

USC IS in the ghetto.

Smith, to avoid heat and religion.

BC because a) don't want an all-girls school, I've been dealing with that since 7th grade already, b) I don't want to go too far away (USC), and c) people from my school tend to like BC

anticatalyst,
there's a reason USC has the largest private police force in the country...

Probably Smith, although the strong lesbian presence might be hard for me. I Actually applied to Mills EA and got in. I'm spending the night this week. Smith's prestige is much stronger though, and USC and BC aren't small and liberal arts like I want.

anyone in this thread actually BEEN to usc campus? its hardly a ghetto. its downtown los angeles.

I have been there. There were sketchy people walking the streets outside of USC's gate and I certainly did not want to walk by them.

Id probably go to USC or BC.

more well known and respected and both of their campuses are very nice.

"I have been there. There were sketchy people walking the streets outside of USC's gate and I certainly did not want to walk by them."

and by sketchy you probably mean black or hispanic right?

seriously, and this goes for any urban school, as long as you arent wandering around past 12 at night without a group of friends, you will be totally safe. its just that simple.

to the OP, dont let these sheltered children who get scared when they see someone who isnt white ruin your perception of USC.

do not even try and pull the racist card with me. it was a questionable area and i have many people to back me up on that.

im not calling you racist, im calling you a white, sheltered person who obviously doesnt know the difference between a "ghetto" and a city center.

"do not even try and pull the racist card with me. it was a questionable area and i have many people to back me up on that."

I used to live there. It's not a ghetto. There are sketchy people hanging around downtown where I live now, and it's a suburb.

USC. I do not like girls and Boston College is way too religious/conservative.

i'd choose BC because it's my dream school!! seriously tho i'd choose it over the others because: a. basically its a cross between a LAC and a uni so you get the small classes/community AND lots of majors/research opportunities, b. boston is an amazing city, c. the campus is soooo pretty c. better name recognition than the others. i dont really care about the last point but it might be important to get a job after college.

and BC isn't that conservative. my brother is there now. he is openly gay, out and loves it there. my fam is not catholic and not religious AT ALL.
