I was admitted into UGA EA and I'm about to apply for the honors program soon. But I really wanna know which dorm is the bestest! Haha so far I've limited my choices to Myers Hall, Oglethorpe and Creswell!

I've heard the Myers isn't as "sociable" as the other dorms, and that's a huge turn off for me. BUT the facility is really nice and it has individual heating units, which is also beneficial!

Creswell seems like my kind of dorm (open doors and what not). But the rooms are small and they don't allow visitors 24/7. (Is that rule really enforced?) :(

And finally Oglethorpe is cool with the bathrooms and upperclassmen, but I'm not too sure about the social life.

So I really want a dorm that has a friendly, talkative group of lads...but I don't want it to be at the expense of beauty and functionality. Sooo, which dorm is the best out of the three? Please rank them for me ((:

Myers is probably the nicest one and the one least out of the way on campus. I have also heard it isn’t too sociable, but really…there are 25000 undergrads on campus. You don’t have to be best friends with the people on your hall. I wasn’t. You’ll find plenty of people to socialize with. Honestly, you might even prefer a less sociable hall. There’s nothing more annoying than people coming in at 3am half drunk when you’ve got a test the next morning. Myers is also across the street from Snelling, which is one of the more roomier and nicer dining halls. The downside…I’ve only be in Myers a few times, but I’m pretty sure the rooms are almost the same size as Creswell. Possibly a little bigger, but not by much (there are floorplans on the housing website if you want to look).

Ohouse is more spacious and comes with a more private bathroom. The floors are co-ed and it does seem a little more sociable than myers.

Creswell is probably the most social out of all of them, but also probably the smallest and least private. But it does come with individual heating/cooling which is very very convenient. I’ve never tried letting visitors in after hours, so I’m not sure.

Ohouse is probably your best bet in terms of socializing AND it not looking too bad followed by Creswell then Myers. Creswell doesn’t look as great, but there’s nothing that a little decoration can’t fix.

After reading your answer, I decided to choose the rooms in this order:
Myers, Creswell, O-House

Even if my dorm isn’t that sociable, I’ll definitely be able to visit friends in their dorms and attend parties. At least with Myers I’ll have to opportunity to study in the dorm without interruption. I chose Creswell over O-House because of the individual heating units. I don’t know how the other dorms keep their temperatures but I can’t live in a place that’s too cold of too hot! Although, if the temperature in O-House isn’t all that bad, I may just make that my second choice!

Again, thanks for you help! I have one more question! Would you say that the people in each hall is…umm different in their personalities? Or does each hall contain a diverse blend of characters? I’d hate to be stuck in a hall with drunk jocks/frat bros. (I really fear this might happen if I go to Creswell).

One benifit to Meyers is that its ‘safer’ than the other dorms. A past UGA honors student told me that she was completely comfortable with just leaving her dorm room unlocked when she lived there because if you’re in the honors dorms, with other dorks like yourself, who is going to be a dishonest cheat?

My son is in Ohouse as a Freshman from out of state. He loves it and has made some great friends who have had him at their homes in Atlanta on weekends. Its a quiet dorm and he likes the interaction with upper classman.

I was also considering O-House but I heard it was pretty boring because of the large number of upperclassmen. But who knows! I actually might choose Ohouse instead since I envision most of the upcoming freshmen as being…well, immature. So IDK.

I’m going to visit in a couple of weeks. Based on what I find, I might get out of the Freshmen High Rises.
