So who else has been deferred?? :\

So I was deferred at UNCW, accepted to ODU, and I'm awaiting a decision from Radford (I'm pretty sure I'm in, and also accepted into Honors Academy).

UNCW is my top school... my guidance counselor was absolutely shocked that I was deferred. I pretty much match all their criteria, so the only thing that I can think of as to why I wasn't accepted is that I'm out of state. Of course (as I read on another post on CC), I go through days where I'm happy that I wasn't rejected, but sad that I wasn't accepted. I can't decide what I should be right now. I'm very thankful that they didn't outright reject me, because if they didn't want me at all they would have just rejected me... and part of me feels that theres something good about my app and thats why they are holding out to wait and see. Of course... then theres the part of me thats like, I wasn't good enough the first round :(

I've talked to my regional counselor at UNCW and from what she's told me, I should take the ACT and just send in mid-year grades. I wonder how much this will help me though? My freshman-junior GPA was a 3.82. This should go up a bit with mid-year stuff, though.

So far what will appear on my mid-year hs transcript is DE Coll. Comp (A?), Government (A), AP Microeconomics (B?), Yearbook (A+), & Mentorship (A+). I also have to submit a college transcript, this semester I took Philosophy (A) and Developmental Psych (A).

So as long as I score good on the ACT do you guys think that this will help at all?

^^ That was my original chance thread if anyone is wondering xD.

A good score on the ACT should help.

That’s weird though. With your stats, you should have gotten in…
Anyway, I feel like ODU is a better school as far as the actual courses there.

Good Luck!

Thanks
I liked ODU as a school, butttt the area was a bit sketchy. I know a bunch of kids who have gone there and the crime rate is pretty high.

Bump!

Bump!!!

Hey there undertheskyline!
I have a friend who got 2240 in SATs and 2400 in SAT II
he got deferred from U of Chicago thats the only one I know
Best of Luck to u !!

Im not really sure why you got deferred, your stats look sweet. Best of luck, and like you said maybe the SAT retake might be helpful

Chance me

BTW why UNCW and not UNC Chapel hill?

I actually never looked at UNC Chapel Hill xD After I visited UNCW I fell in love with the school. It’s the perfect combination between work and play… and its at the beach :)

hahah, sounds good
good luck

Depending on how badly you want this there are a couple of things you could do to show your strong interest… with that said… If I were you, I would send in my mid-year hs transcript; along with requesting an interview(some schools will do this) if its feasible for you; I would send in another essay and resume highlighting some points they may have missed. Since you are majoring in nursing I would highlight your strong science interests. I’ve seen this work about 80% of the time.

Today I was accepted into the Radford University and invited to the Honors Academy. Just wanted to post a quick update. :)

Bump bump bump
