wow you guys have high statistics. i had 3.3 (u) gpa with 1440 SATS and i was accepted into UCSB, UCSD, UCD, n so on. But then i had convincing personal statement plus tons of extracurricular activities and leadership positions. So don't lose hope if you have low academic scores!

I think i am attending UCSB because of the warm beach and laid back environment. Plus, the city is beautiful.

Hey, so I live in Santa Barbara and I can def give some firsthand insight into the whole party aspect of UCSB (or more specifically IV - Isla Vista - the college town which is basically everyone not saying in dorms crammed into a square mile jammed against a cliff lol)

UCSB students do party, but they also do work just as hard. I know plenty of kids that rage all weekend only to turn around and go to they're graduate level math class the next morning. Also, not everyone lives that lifestyle, it's a personal lifestyle choice. I know plenty of people that are completely disassociated from the party scene.

As a high schooler, IV was pretty sick tho :) Its pretty fun and you can find some good grub there too: Local secret - Freebirds makes the most tantalizingly delicious burritos/nachos and is open 24 hours for all you partyers. Trust me, its legit

One more thing, IV during Halloween is NUTS!!! Imagine the city hiring 300 extra police officers to fill that one little square mile for a "5-day weekend of partying", it's pretty ridiculous. There's a sea of people as far as the eye can see.

But as far as the student profile looks, my cousin goes there (he is currently a freshman) and he had 2100ish SATs and a 3.8ish unweighted GPA. There's legit students there...

Oh ya, you can't beat the girls either :)
