I did and I’m pretty surprised, I was just outside the top 10% of my class but did have a 32 ACT.

Congrats to the rest of you who got it as well.

I did too. I need this money, so I'm kinda stressing out. How many people usually get it? I hope its less than 100.

It can't be fewer than 100 who are invited, since there are what, 70 of the full tuition scholarships and 10 of the full ride scholarships? I would guess at least 2-3 hundred are invited if 80-ish receive awards.

I received my invitation today, and am quite happy with the $2700, though I will definitely be trying for one of the better scholarships awarded though the essay competition.

I have a 32 ACT, and was just outside of the top 10% of my class. I wasn't really expecting to be invited to the Maximus, being that the requirements were, as I remember, a 32 and top 3%, so this was a happy surprise.

My S received this last year and competed in the competition, but did not receive any additional money from that. It was a nice day anyway. However, if I remember correctly, there were over 900 that competed for the less than 100 extra scholarships. So, good luck, but don't hold your breath...

^ Truth. The extra level of Maximus scholarships is super competitive. LOTS of kids vying for a few scholarships. I know plenty of essay-writing geniuses who didn't make the cut.

That said, hey, SOMEONE has to win. So go out there, do your best, and good luck!

Yeah my invitation came today too, but I don't really believe I'm the best essay writer so I'm not really keeping my hopes up too high

Even if you don't win the additional $, the Maximus Day at OSU is VERY well-done. It was the clincher for me (the mom) but I didn't tell D until she had decided on OSU.

Here's the info from 2007. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ohio-state-university-columbus/296666-sooooo-how-maximus.html?highlight=maximus

for ppl who went to the competition last year: what was the day's schedule like? what exactly do you do?

I'm a little confused about the hosa application I apparently need to complete in order to qualify for the Presidential scholarship. Did everyone else already do this, and do I need to submit the hosa app before I can confirm for the Maximus event? I can't find anything specific about which, if either, need to be submitted before the other.

can someone give me the site where I can register for the maximus scholarship? I got a letter in the mail but I don't have it atm, but I don't want to miss out of the only date that I can attend.

The HOSA essays are hard i am having quite a hard time trying to think of something to write about for the first one.

Prettypink17, I am also working on an essay based on the first topic. I think I am going to write about an idea expressed within a recent WIRED magazine article, their 'technology of tomorrow' stuff almost always fascinates me. The full application is due by Feb. 2nd, so I have a few days. Good luck on finding something to write about.

Yeah, I'm having trouble starting the HOSA essays. And I don't think that my essay-writing skills will make the cut. But I'm going anyway to see what happens.

Good luck to all!

what are you supposed to wear to the competition? is it causal, so you could wear like jeans, or should you dress up?

Do you need to submit HOSA app before you fill out the registration for Maximus?

No on the last email it said you could do the HOSA after

Oh and I was wondering about dress too

The HOSA simply needs to be completed by its own deadline. It's possible to go to Maximus without having ever filled out the HOSA. I know some kids who did this simply because they forgot the HOSA ("d'oh!"). That said, make sure you fill out the HOSA if you want to be eligible for those big scholarships!

I would say Maximus is whatever attire you want. I saw the whole mix last year from super casual to super dressy. Everything from t-shirt and jeans to guys with ties. I personally went for semi-casual, something with a collar but definitely no tie.

not to hijack the Maximus thread, but i didnt feel like making my own....

how many people got the provost scholarship? is this something that a lot of students are offered as a way to get them to come to OSU, or is it something to be a little bit proud of? either way, 2100 a year is nothing to complain about; i'm happy!

oh geez I have <6 hours to decide whether to compete or not.

Are most of you really really interested in OSU?
