So...who is actually going to attend NYU?

yea...many masters programs in quant finance require you to have a pretty quant heavy undergrad major....I looked up the jobs that students in NYU's Masters in Mathematical Finance got..most of em are working as derivatives/quantitative trading positions....from what I hear, they're pretty highly paid

So it seems like most of you don't have NYU as your first choice.

Haha. ^_^'' It's true. It was never my first choice.

Nah, NYU's always been my first choice. :)

That's always a good thing ;)

Grats :)

Hey, we're both from Texas!

Haha, howdy! Which school did you apply to? I'm definitely attending the Gallatin reception, though I'm using this month's work money to afford visiting and staying in NYC for the weekend; it's worth it.

I'll go if these two things happen:

Columbia rejects me.

The financial aid department doesn't screw me over.

1 is a near certainty, though I still have my fingers crossed for the contrary. As for number 2...well...

most of the people at NYU masters of finance are geniuses. if you look at their stats, they pull of like a 3.9 gpa at a school like MIT where i know people with 2400 SATs/ ranked #1 in their high school get Cs. So it is no free lunch and undergraduade is very superficial due to liberal art requirments eating up courses

lol, i looked at their stats, most of them are from asia or europe..but yea, they were pretty much geniuses

Same for me salamander. I applied to CAS ham. Got into GSP. -_-

NYU was my top choice...until I got accepted by NU.

NYU isn't at the top of my list, so I guess I am going to wait for all the other universities to get back to me before making the decision. Still thrilled I got admitted though! :D

NYU is my top choice and I will go unless I get no aid. My ideal situation is me getting 10,000 per year, making the tuition about 40,000 per year, then I have to convince my parents to scrap the housing, making the tuition less than 30,000, let me move to NY with a roomate, try to find an apartment in BK or Queens where I'll split the rent $700 per month and work my ass off every fing day at Jamba Juice while going to class and doing stuff.

So far, USC is my top choice right now, unless I somehow get into those ultra reaches I applied to: Stanford, Yale, Columbia. xD

i got like no aid at all. i got 2k from stern and the rest 51k, i only have been given loans

Are you serious? Only 2k?! What was your EFC? Mine is 12k.

lol 2k???????? that's nothing!

i think like 43k or somthing

Oh...well...that's different. xD

It was. Now it's officially a "Hell No."
