so who turned down columbia?

...so the waitlistees can see if they have a chance :-)

i did. I hope someone else will be happier there. good luck to everyone.

pity i'd have liked to see you there

i did too...

I'm a bit disappointed that I had to reject Columbia because of financial reasons. I mean I received decent scholarships from organizations but it was not enough. Let's just say I would have an incredible debt of about $40,000 and that is just too much for me; especially if you plan on going to law school which the average indebtness at prestigious schools (my intentions to attend one of them by all means) are about $80k. So, combined that's atleast $120k. So, Columbia I love ya, but, there AINT no way i'm being in debt for 40k with an addition of 80k; i'll just wait until after college before i make that committment.

i rejected it for a 7 year full ride to a guaranteed med program

take that

where are you going instead, collegefreak?

i did. i'll be going to MIT

he will go to rutgers.

I declined admission to Columbia. I got some Global Scholars thing as well, but I think that means nothing.

inuendo: you're wrong; it's actually a very nice recognition that provides fellowship/internship application assistance, scholars-only seminars, access to public figures, networking opportunities, and free Broadway tickets to boot. Less than 1% of all applicants are named Scholars.

But oh well. Good luck at your alternative school.

i chose to go to harvard. columbia is a great school and i loved it when i visited, but the core and the focus on the city rather than on the university itself made me go elsewhere. i'm glad that somebody here may get off the waitlist because of my decision, though. good luck, everyone.

unctuous, same here.

i did. I really liked Columbia, but got a great offer at NU. GL getting off Waitlist

northwestern, is it, lunknot?

i know 3 people that are turning down columbia.

where are you going, silver_waves?

I chose Yale..it fit nicely between Brown's open curriculum and Columbia's strict core...I felt sad saying no to Brown and Columbia though, they were my dream schools.

i turned it down for Princeton

i turned it down for berkeley :)
