Which clearly has a pretty big picture/diagram/demonstration on the upper half of the page showing OXFORD COLLEGE and also clearly showing you'll move on to EMORY COLLEGE junior and senior year. In short, it pretty much says if you go to Oxford you'll graduate with Emory Bachelor's Degree, and not get cut-off after 2 years. It also implies that going to Oxford IS going to "Emory University." Don't know if the quotes are really needed...

So how does Emory College still get about 4-5 times more applicants than Oxford? Anyone know?

I applied to both, deferred ED Emory, accepted RD to Emory and Oxford. That's me. I did it because I was doing ED so I thought of Oxford as back-up after I got deferred and tried to find ways to get me off the damn defer list.

How about you guys? Why did you ignore that big Oxford College name shown in the admissions page?

Because I knew I’d get in
Because I didn’t wanna live in a rural place

Not because I thought oxford was inferior.

These threads are beginning to **** me off. Oxford students are not inferior but do generally have lesser stats than emory students. I feel like it’s a backdoor but I don’t feel like there is anything wrong with it

This is NOT one of those “Oxford is backdoor/sucks/bull&^%$” threads.

I made this because a lot of people who got in Emory or goes to Emory <claim> to not know about Oxford when that name should’ve hit them in the face during application process.</claim>

I hear (if its true) Oxford students do really well when they get to Emory College… so if they do, I would call that “backdoor” an amazing opportunity.

I was accepted Early Decision to Emory College.

I did not apply to Oxford for 3 simple reasons:

I would not be able to stand being in a college of only 700 students. That’s half the size of my high school.

I wanted a “northern school” and a suburban environment, and I didn’t think the town of Oxford provided either of these things.

I wanted to feel like I attended a university, and I heard opinions saying that the small, tightknit community and friendly, responsive professors was a lot like high school.

I greatly respect Oxford College, and I know that the quality of education is very similar to that of Emory College. Nonetheless, I couldn’t look past these three basic characteristics.

DUDE, where the **** do people come up with these dumbass claims. There is no proof this is true. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised, if Oxford kids came up with this, because people kept telling them that they got into Emory using a backdoor.

@College00701. There is, in fact, a proof. Oxford shows a much lower SAT range and GPA for accepted students. I posted on the other thread people from my school who got accepted to both Emory and Oxford. Students who got accepted to Oxford shows much lower stats than those who got accepted to Emory college.

I never considered Oxford a ‘backdoor’ for Emory, but I think we need to be honest about the differences in academic level between accepted students of Oxford and Emory college.

And like that one poster said, Oxford and Emory students get the same paper in the end. What I feel is that Oxford students are seeing it more as a give-you-a-middle-finger-and-you-can’t-do-anything-about-it attitude. What are we Emory College students gonna do, call every one of their employers and tell them they “backdoored” into Emory?

THATS NOT WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. I know Oxford has much lower stats than emory, I was saying where is the proof, that Oxford kids do better than Emory kids once they get back to the main campus?

Colleges00701, my bad! I did not read your post well. And yes you are indeed correct that there is no proof at all that Oxford kids to better than those of Emory college…

Recently went on a tour at Oxford. loved the size of classes and campus. The tour guide mentioned that in recent years, that more inductees into phi beta kappa at emory actually came from oxford. I was pretty impressed. However, my D was less enamored after she spoke with several students at the Oxford campus and they said they only tolerated the Oxford campus because they knew they would eventually make it to emory. How sad! I thought it was a gem of a campus, and she couldn’t picture herself with a student body who really didn’t want to be there. Apparently she talked to the wrong students. It was disappointing, since I could see the potential and she could only see unhappy students.

^It’s not her fault. It’s those jackasses over at Oxford who could even say those things that damages a division of their university. Right now I don’t have a problem with Oxford, but those people I DO have a problem with.

alam1, you said we’re all too mature for this. I tried, don’t know if I made it. Everyone else is mature on here, which I look forward to meeting at Emory and trying to break my own habit.

Except cs12345, who said I’m ■■■■■■■■, and opii on the other thread who called me a village idiot.

I had a completely different view than you all when I started discussing Oxford vs Emory but I guess unlilke them I’m too much of a ■■■■■■■■ village idiot to NOT throw around 6-year-old insults.

I hope that me being extremely intolerant in the past will not affect me trying to be tolerant right now when I go to Emory next year. 'Cause I’m starting to lose it against 6 year olds which just makes me even more stupid.

Beretta, remember that this is an online thread. You’re always going to get people pushing your buttons… its better not to get hung up on whether one person called you an “idiot” or not. I simply ignore such comments rather than engaging them.
