So worried

Okay so here it goes, I'm currently a high school senior that is going to graduate in June of 2011. Since the beginning of my freshman year, I was sure that I was going to apply to UCI. At the time, that was my only choice. I would accept nothing else (unless it was an even better school, of course). I worked pretty hard throughout the years, but there was always one subject I had trouble with-- Mathematics. I got a B in Geometry my freshman year, then a D- in Algebra 2, and then another D+ in trigonometry my junior year. I knew I had to do something. I talked to my counselor, and she told me that I need to take an even higher course to validate the Ds in the past. So I'm currently on my second and final semester of Calculus. I barley passed last semester with a D. I honestly tried so hard to get a good grade in Calc, but I just can't grasp on to anything higher than a D! I've went to study sessions, and honestly thought I understood the lessons, up until the test and quizzes came, and I failed them miserably. This discouraged me so much that I never even thought of applying to my dream school. The only school I applied to was Cal State Fullerton. I'm really disappointed with myself. I know that it this is my fault and my fault only.

I created an account on this forum to ask one question:

Will I have any chance of getting accepted to Cal State Fullerton with the D that is printed on my 7th semester transcript I sent in?

Here are my grades and SAT score for my first semester of high school:

1) ERWC (English) - B
2) Elective Class (Cooking) - A
3) Government - B
4) Calculus - D
5) Anatomy/Physiology - B
6) Wrestling - A

SAT

500 Reading
520 Math
490 Writing

Any replies or personal accounts would be appreciated greatly

anybody care to reply?

hey. i totally know how you feel with math. i’ve always had trouble with it too. I’m a high school junior and I got an F on my pre-calculus midterm. But. I got a tutor and my grades are completely turning around. You mentioned going to study sessions which is great. But if it’s possible you might want to look into getting a tutor. It’s definitely helped me a ton. My SAT math score went from a 500 to a 600.

good luck with everything!
