So yeah I got into both Cal and UCLA.

So, what is there to do in San Francisco? Or Berkeley?

Any SoCal people attend Berkeley in particular able to comment?

Isn’t it a little late to be thinking about this decision now?

Anyways, I’m from SoCal and I visited Berkeley in one of their Overnight programs.

I have to say that the environment at Berkeley is a bit different from SoCal. The place feels more chill and relaxing. There are still plenty of things to do around the area but many are not as flashy as places near UCLA like Westwood. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to visit San Francisco during my stay.

I am guessing Tiberius is a transfer

If you enjoy music, you can go to either SF, Berkeley, or Oakland and attend several music venues. Lots of touring groups come this way, from Britney Spears (just last week) to Wicked the musical, etc…

In SF, you can be a tourist and go to the Tourist-ee spots of the city (Golden Gate, Alcatraz, Fisheman’s Wharf, Chinatown). Or you can go to the world-class shopping districts there (Westfield, Union Square).

For me, I am not into the posh fashion; I am more into the underground/hip-hop scene here. If you are too, then I highly recommend stores like TRUE, HUF, or any Stussy carriers.

To wrap it up, back in Berkeley there is ALWAYS an event going on. I swear by this. It could either be a business meet-n-greet, Google/Apple/Facebook/Cisco throwing a recruiting session, a poetry slam, a break-dancing competition, some hip-hop concerts, artists like Yo Yo Ma or the Russian Ballet performing, or even the good, old-fashioned dances at Blakes (a club/bar).

Basically, there is a ton of stuff to do here. Just do exactly what you are doing right now when you get to Cal: ask around, and people will tell you where stuff is going down.
