So yeah math...

Okay so I have asked a question like this before, but this year I am taking per calc as a sophomore, which in my school is accerated. I am not a math person, and hate it, and it's the one subject bringing my gpa down every year. Next year most people in my position will take ap calc ab then bc senior year. I feel that this is too hard for me, and am considering just taking ap stats next year and some random easy math class senior year, like intermediate algebra(which is a joke), just because I've heard its good to take 4 years of math.
But do prestigious schools prefer me to take ap calc? Or is ap stats just as good? Idk what progression I want to go into yet. And would it look bad if I took an easy math class senior year? I'm very confused and don't want to jeprodize any chances at my top colleges.

Calculus (AP or not) is definitely valued by colleges - but if math is really proving to be a struggle, I would definitely go the other route. The most important thing is to have four steady years of math.

Well, how did you end up in Pre-Cal? Is it because you took a summer course and managed to get like, Algebra II out of the way? If so, that might also count as a year of math. For instance, I’m a Junior, and I have friends in AP Calculus BC who took courses over the summer, so they’re technically in their fifth year of math if you include the fact that they took (and passed) Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, and are now in Calc.

If I where you I would do AP Calc junior year and AP Stats senior year. You don’t need to take the hardest math in the world, but a blow off class will look bad.

I took ore algebra 6th, algebra 1 seventh, geometry 8th, and algebra 2 last year. That’s how I’m in percalc, to answer your question. And they are all hs credits.
Okay…Thanks. I’m leaning toward ap calc junior and ap stats senior, though I’m definitely not looking forward to it.

I’ll put out there that AP Statistics if you’re not a math person still can be difficult. (Yes, I get to listen to all the people that opted out of AP Calculus ask for class help on identical problems just with different numbers in Stats) To me it’s much more work than AP Calculus and more things to learn.

Ha, our class did the statistics and found the AP Calculus examination is easier than the statistics one, that’s because the multiple choice questions and FR on every test becomes very repetitive and is easy to memorize the algorithms to solve them if you take a bunch of practice exams.
