Here’s the update on decisions in case this will help anyone out in future years!
Yale- Waitlisted
Duke- Accepted and Enrolled, GO BLUE DEVILS
Penn- Waitlisted, did not remain on list
Cornell- Accepted
Northwestern- Rejected
Michigan- Accepted Honors
UNC- Accepted Honors
Vandy- Accepted
Georgetown- Waitlisted, did not remain on list
Pitt-Accepted Honors, Full Tuition Scholarship
Stanford EA- Rejected :(

What is your ethnicity?

I’m asian. So that’s a minority right? hahahahaha

Congratulations! Tier 1 colleges are so interesting. You get in Cornell and Duke but get rejected by Northwestern. Anyways, Duke is a great school and good luck next year.

Couldn’t tell if you were joking, so, sorry if I missed the point, but while it is a minority, Asians have a harder time in college admissions than any other group (So I guess that’s some consolation for your Stanford rejection and others)

Do you mean Indian or Native American? If they were actually Indian, that would be a significant detriment, so that’s certainly not why they got in.

To an extent college admissions at the very top schools is random. People who certainly deserve to get in (like the genius kid you mentioned) often get rejected while people who don’t really [comparatively] deserve it at all often get accepted. I guess that’s life…

Stanford (EA) - High Match/low reach
Upenn - High Match
Duke - Low Reach
U Michigan - low Match
Cornell - Match
Vanderbilt - match
UCLA - high match
Pitt Honors (scholarship) - low match

Chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1144211-chance-cornell.html

High Match for Stanford and Penn but Low Reach for Duke haha. I got into the Low Reach and rejected from the High Matches. Just goes to show you how these things are.

Here are my final decisions to help out all you 2012ers about to apply, good luck and don’t stress out too much!
Yale- Waitlisted, Rejected

Georgetown- Waitlisted, did not remain on list
Pitt-Accepted Honors, Full Tuition Scholarship

Stanford is a huge reach for everybody. If I were you, I’d apply ED to Cornell or Penn (the ED advantage is much more substantial).

In retrospect my essay was pretty terrible haha, but here’s a bump for all you Stanford EA’ers
