Okay, so I got accepted into UNC...but when reading the acceptance letter it came off more as a "we're offering you an admission but if you F up this year, then you're screwed"

Well, I try really hard at everything, and the last thing I'm going to do it get all lazy. But with my hard course load/activities, I'm afraid that my grades aren't going to be 95's all across the board or something ridiculous like that.

How bad do you really have to screw up for them to "change their minds"? I'm assuming as long...as you don't get C's?

Has anyone ever heard of something like that happening to someone...where they got accepted then rejected?

I'm not genuinely worried about this at all, but I'm just curious. We're not sending them our midyear grades but just our end of year grades, correct?

I knew you could get rejected, but for a D? I thought having a felony or a record were one of the main reasons you were rejected. I guess my plan of getting a GED is out of the question then. Damn.

you can get a C no problem. just don't make it consistent. and yes it is ALWAYS implement every year you can read news reports of angry students who decided to lazy up and were later rejected. so don't stress about one C or even two for that matter. but when it comes to D's and F's, they are highly inadvisable.. i would think especially if its not a regular trend for you.

Even if you get a D among As I think that'd be different, because it almost looks like a wild card. I've heard that they send warning letters out sometimes, and yes they have rejected people in the past after they got a few Ds, if I remember correctly. I got a C in an upper level math class and didn't get any kind of letter, but I wouldn't have pushed it any further than that.

yeah C's are okay. Just stay away from D's just to be on the safe side. Also be careful while you're enjoying your senior year. You wouldn't want to report a citation for something like alcohol possession to unc.

hey i'm really excited i got accepted but I'm worried I'll be rescinded:

my first semester grades:
CALCULUS AB - C :(
english honors - A
honors anatomy - B
AP European History- A!

2nd semester grades I will most likey get
Calculus BC - C
AP Psychology - C
astronomy - A
creative writing - A

So will C's in AP Calculus AB and BC, and AP Psychology cause me to be rescinded? Will I get a warning letter? I'm really happy about UNC but I'm normally an A-B student, so I hope this drop in grades doesn't kill me.

Ok. I've always heard that in order to get rescinded, you would need to completely bomb all your classes. You should be fine. You have A's in good classes, and C's in tough classes. They should understand.

you will not get rejected unless it is completely evident that you gave up on school and/or committed a serious misdeameanor or felony

C's and D's will not get you rejected, maybe warned but not rejected
you may have heard of the guy who sued Carolina because he failed all his classes for the second semester but one so he still passed for the year...he is my neighbor...he had a full scholarship that was the first to be taken back, and then a warning, but even after the year ended he was rejected, it was only when his APs came back and he failed them and was rejected in early July and stranded without a college...what a story

Yeah, I think even a D or two and it would just be a warning letter max. The guy had 3 C's 2 D's and an F, previously with As/Bs in mostly AP I would assume with a 1600.

I don't know that I would recommend taking that risk. While the example referred to was certainly extreme, I have seen nothing to indicate that an acceptance cannot be rescinded for less. I would suspect that a red flag goes up anytime that they see a material, unexplained departure from the grades on which an acceptance was based. Blowing off second semester of senior year would not be a great idea.

I wasn't suggesting taking any risk or blowing off anything. Just saying what I think would happen. Then again 2 D's might be on the edge, I don't really know.
