Pros: (EC’s, any other junk)
- Full Ride 4 Year(s) Scholarships from Veteran’s Affairs Office (VA)
(I get paid about $2,000 to go to College Shrug I’m very Lucky, Dad served in Wars and opened that door for me)
- 2 Excellent recommendations from very accredited professors (Yale/ Duke Graduates)
- Member of my college hall governing student body
- Member of various college religious groups
- A fairly decent amount of artistic awards and community service from high school
- Played for the soccer team for about a year in high school before getting into academics
- Also wrote a very compelling essay (was reviewed by my English professors whom loved it)
- And a some what sympathetic but meaningful optional essay detailing my personal experiences with mentally ill person(s) that showcased a legitimate reason for being in the program

Cons:
- Left High school a semester early as an early graduate in order to seek a full time job to cover apartment cost for a private college (Savannah College of Art & Design, as a Interactive Design & Game Development Major with a Merit Scholarship) I got into but I decided not to go to.
- Only took 3 AP Courses in High School (Didn’t do AP test because I was initially going to a private Arts school where they wouldn’t matter)
- Only had 13 hours the 1st semester of college, due to me dropping a 3 hour lecture I did not want and being left without a filler class. Granted I was in a 24 weight course that was counted for 6 hours and place 2nd in the course during that time, along with other various top placement in courses.
- Probably didn’t have as much community service as they’d like…
- My actual essay was about double the 500 word limit due to me having some rather compelling things to say that meant a lot to me.

With all that being said, my current course of action is to stay at UNCC. I may explore the option of a NC State transfer… If all falls through maybe I’ll reapply Junior year. I am not sure. I am engaged and my Fiancee is a Nursing Major at UNC and is exploring the option of transfer to UNCC so I don’t have to worry about the struggle that is this waiting game they are putting us through. I don’t like the distance, but I don’t know if I can give an ok to that kind of jump, granted UNCC has a good Nursing school. I am just currently sitting on my toes and waiting, having a perpetual maybe hanging over my head agitates me because so much needs to get done in the case of a definite “Yes” or “No”…

I am sorry to those of you who did not get in, and to those of you who got wait-listed. I wish all of you the best of luck in your future endeavors and possible yes decisions. I personally hope I get in, but have prepared for the worst. Looking at last years statistic that were thrown up on here we each have roughly a 36 or 37 to 1 chance of getting a “Yes”. Discouraging, ya, possible, yes.

Well, at any rate that was a mouthful and I may have left something out, but that should pretty much describe my situation.
