<p>One thing not mentioned - if you have a parent who has served in the military for a significant amount of time, you would be immediately eligible for a Presidential Nomination. A parent who is retired or retirement eligible is definitely adequate. A parent who is still serving (active or reserve) and has sufficient time on the books (I am not sure of the exact amount of time, needs checking) - might possibly get you a Presidential nomination.</p>

<p>But ultimately, the "timeliness" of an application might be perceived as to the credibility of the applicant. Occasionally, a diamond in the rough might be discovered at the very last minute - and there is a chance of getting a nomination. BUT - if you suddenly decide you want the nomination, it is well worth the time and effort to try to make a go at the process NOW, and then pick it up and continue with it for Class of 2013. </p>

<p>While it is unlikely to be successful for Class of 2012, an interested late candidate could certainly make a noteworthy start, and by taking hard Math (Calculus) and Sciences (Chemistry & Physics) classes during the next year - prove that one has the ability to succeed in a tough academic environment.</p>
