SOAR Schedule Dates

If any of you guys are already attending CSULB, would you guys be willing to explain what happens at SOAR?
Is it by alphabetical order or the schedules are on a first come first basis?
Also, if you guys remember, was the SOAR schedule around mid-july to late july?
I need to know the dates because I'm going on vacation and I can't book a flight unless I know the SOAR schedule unfortunately.

Thanks in advance.

Last year, SOAR started late June. It is based on who registers first on mycsulb. Basically, you’ll be given a tour of the campus and SOAR advisers will help you choose classes for Fall 2011. The sooner your SOAR date is, the better the classes you will be able to choose from. The later it is, the less classes that will be available since everyone will have registered before you. You’ll be left with slim pickings-- bad teachers, bad classes, bad times. So sign up for a SOAR date as soon as possible. Unfortunately if you have to take placement tests, you’ll have to wait until your scores come back before picking a date. If you do have to take placement tests, make sure you pass them. Don’t be the student that has to take pre-baccalaureate classes.

The 2011 SOAR dates for freshman are at the bottom of this page.

Thank you! Btw, will students attending the schedule that day be divided by majors, for instance we would be going our own ways?
Also, even if I’m a commuter, it would be best for me attend the two-day workshop since it will tell me more about the campus and the feel of college life I’m assuming?

You’ll be broken into groups based on your intended major. If you have extra money, you could do the two-day workshop, although I think it’s not necessary. You’ll gradually get a feel of campus as you attend CSULB. It’s up to you though.
