i just came back from it (and i attended ALANA too) as well as visiting other colleges and missing a boatload of school i might add. what are you girls' impressions, etc? people i met there either felt the visit solidified their decision or completely changed it.

as for me: the campus was AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS and everyone was just so supportive of each other...definitely saw the 'wellesley connection'. unfortunately, my host scared the crap out of me with wellesley ghost stories. yeesh.

I was there for part of the day Monday and on Sunday during ALANA open campus. The campus is indeed amazingly gorgeous :] I just sent in my deposit yesterday because after visiting I was sure I'd like very much to attend school there for the next four years.

I was a little underhwhelmed on Monday, just because I felt like we were shipped from presentation to presentation, which didn't allow us to get a real feel for the campus and school. Not to mention the weather was so dreary.

But once I was able to really connect with my host and some other possible 2010-ers, the experience really got better. Tuesday was absolutely gorgeous, so the campus was in full splendor. The class I sat in on was interesting, too.

Actually, interestingly enough, SOC completely changed my mind...I just didn't feel like Wellesley was for me when I left. I'm glad I went, because otherwise I would have gone...not that I didn't meet a lot of interesting, ambitious women and sit in on amazing classes. Just...some times what you think will be perfect for you isn't. Wellesley is a great school with excellent opportunities and an incredibly talented student body, but it's not for everyone. For any future prospies reading this thread, I still highly recommend applying to Wellesley or any women's school....just be sure to visit, and for more than a couple of hours. And to all of you future Wellesley women, good luck next year!

i don't know, dinosaurrawr...i was at wellesley the whole time, i swear!

actually, i agree with americangypsy. wellesley was amazing and i still love it, but as for the right "fit", i just didn't feel like wellesley was the best school for me.

hey you guys!
i was at SoC and alanna too, and i absolutely fell in love with wellesley. this is coming from the girl who told her parents she was NOT going to wellesley because she was going to UCLA or Berkeley. I'll admit though that the first day at alanna sucked because i felt cooped up- they were ushering us around to panel after panel, and i was sooooo bored and tired. but monday and tuesday completely changed my view. and the women there were SOOOOOOOOOOOO NICE AND FRIENDLY and SOOOOOOOO INTELLIGENT too! i was definately very impressed. :)

I went to ALANA and SOC as well. Overall I think they overdid the panels and scheduled events since we all came here to see the campus, not to sit in a room listening to people talk about Wellesley for hours. After the second ALANA panel I set out on my own and attended classes that I looked up in the catalogue. Seeing Wellesley on my own, along with meeting current and prospective students, was what turned my opinion around about the college. Now I'm 98% sure that I'll be attending next year. :)

Interestingly enough, americangypsy, I felt the opposite effect. I went to Mt. Holyoke's event on Sunday, felt completely underwhelmed, and went to Wellesley Monday & Tuesday and loved every minute of it! But you're right, they are both great schools, and it is interesting to see where one fits best, and how different some people's experiences are at the same schools!

After going to six different open campus events this month, I have been to enough panels and sessions, and spent enough nights sleeping on the floor in my sleeping bag. And I have so much homework to make up now that I'm back at home!

I didn't go to all of the ALANA or SOC panels, my host told me that they weren't exactly mandatory and it's better to wander around. Plus they do get a little repetitive and drag oooonnnnn. But I still loved the campus, people and experience. Still Wellesley is just not for me, For any future prospies all I can say is VISIT. Otherwise you will either pass up the perfect place or end up going to a school that is not quite right for you.

Mimeea, the event itself did underwhelm me, at the beginning. But then I met my host, and I started meeting the other girls, and I attended classes on Monday....and I loved it. I didn't leave Mt Holyoke until lunchtime on Monday, and then I went to Wellesley. I'm glad I did the overnight at both places, though it was exhausting.

I didn't get to go on the SOC (:(), but I did check out the Wellesley campus on a tour a few days earlier. The girls on the tour seemed REALLY nice, as was the tour guide, and I did like the campus... I think. Although the science library/building were AWFUL. buuuuuut it's still one of my favorite schools and I don't know what to do? Cornell or Wellesley?? eeee.

HEY, for those of you who decided that it wasn't the perfect school for you... where are you going?

It's generally ugly--I'd describe it as modern and monstrous...it looks like a collection of multicolored pipes in the shape of a building. I heard that one alum donated money so Wellesley would plant trees in front of it.

yeah....i thought it was under construction at first. i felt like some buildings seem disjointed from the whole campus like the wang campus center.
