SoCal people - feel the earthquake?

That was pretty cool - 5.8!

My dad was freaking out - he was like, "hide under the bed!!"
Whatever.

"Cool" is not exactly the word that comes to mind when things are being destroyed and people are potentially getting hurt.

It was a 5.4.

Try being on the 20th floor of a high-rise. Yikes! At least it was the rolling kind, which doesn't feel so bad.

I felt it but it was nothing compared to the 7.6 I felt on the 20th floor of a hotel in Japan.

OP reminds me of how teens were portrayed on 90s TV.

nhsharvard, I thought it got bumped up to a 5.8.

There wasn't much damage done by the quake...Apparently, the epicenter was in Chino Hills (weren't there two people who post here frequently who live in Chino Hills?)...

The worst that could've happened would be fractures gas pipes, I'd think.

Ektaylor: high five.

Fine. Excuse me. I haven't heard of any accounts of any real damage from anyone. If this was a 6.5+, or one that caused damage, trust me, I wouldn't say it was cool.

Barely felt it, although it did freak me out for a second.

thank goodness that an earthquake of that magnitude didn't do too much harm, so many other countries have seen horrific effects of earthquakes we have been blessed robot have seen much

I am afraid about the aftershocks. I'm in Berkeley right now and my parents and grandma and oldest (of two) sister are in SoCal right now.

So far, I've heard that a water main burst near CSU LA.
Oh, and a K-mart in Chino had a lot of products fall off of shelves.

I'm actually moving into Chino in a couple of weeks...interesting.

Not much happened except the news is treating it like the apocalypse has arrived. CNN contacted one of their reporters at Disneyland. What?

I was asleep, which is disappointing.

@ Indian, there is no kmart @ chino hills, the picture from latimes mislabeled it. that kmart is in Diamond bar, which is next to chino hills.

Yea. I'm from Chino Hills, however I'm in China right now.. so I didn't feel the quake. Hopefully nothing at my house fell down when I go back in a few weeks. o.O

gotta love the media. 70,000+ people died in China and the news is broadcast for 5 min after the evening sports review. A tiny earthquake here and everyone is going nuts

@88888888: good to know. I'm moving into Chino soon - note to self: no k-mart in chino hills. Yeah, diamond bar is still pretty close.
It's strange, since Chino/Chino Hills isn't even that close to the SA Fault...

I felt it (I live in Garden Grove). It was puny and only lasted a couple of seconds. After it went away, I went back to using the computer and took a nap.
