hey does anyone know if soccer is remotely popular at yale? Like are there people that meet up on weekends for a game or whatever or do ppl go out to watch epl and stuff?

There are varsity and club teams for both men and women. Both varsity teams made it to the NCAA tournament last year, with the women losing in the round of 16 to the eventual winner.

Each college also has IM soccer teams.

cool thanks. would you happen to know if this is the norm in most american colleges. e.g. are there IM and varsity teams in most (or at least IMs) or would yale be one of the few with more interest in the sport?

a lot of people attend the varsity games

At most colleges in North America (except perhaps very small ones), there is an opportunity to play NCAA soccer and intramural soccer, as well as just get together with friends or classmates on the weekend and shoot around. There are most always people who are interested in soccer at whatever institution you wish to attend.

great question...although I think serie a>primera liga>epl :)

serie a??? come on Italian football is boring. All they do is defend with 11 men and annoy you by going for the counter. I swear I almost fell asleep watching the Italians at the world cup finals but maybe its just me.

ah, great. football ppl. (i despise the term soccer......i mean out of the 200 or so FIFA members, only the US calls it "soccer")

anyways, sorry kaka. I like kaka too but seria A definitely isn the best league....especially with the cheating stuff last year. Inter is setting new records for number of wins but nobody gives a crap, why would that be?

between the primera liga and epl, it's hard to say...... i think on average the epl is more exciting to watch because it's so fast.....but a "fantastic match" in the liga is simply magical.....and beats any epl games.....(however, i am a newcastle fan!)

Well I think that most games in any league wouldn't be that great because most of the clubs don't have the budget to field the world class players. I dont pick teams for the team but rather for the players. So that's why I think it's safe to say that the best games are the ones between the best clubs (who have the money for great players) in the league...that's why I always get really excited for an inter-acmilan game, or barce-real match.

And, I'm also looking forward to the elim rounds of the Champions League! Forza Milan!
