What is the social atmosphere like at Miami? I applied, but I am a low maintenance, pretty intellectual kind of person. I like low key social events, definately not much of a partier. I want to debate at Miami. I keep hearing people are rather appearence obsessed there. Would I fit in?

Also, if anyone knows, is the student body more liberal, conservative, centrist, etc?

It totally depends on your friends and also on your major to an extent. Miami is stereotyped as being conservative, but the student newspaper actually found that a considerably higher percentage of students voted for Obama. Within one of my majors, there is a pretty even mix of conservative and liberal students, and my other major definitely skews liberal. (Business, on the other hand, does tend to be more conservative!) None of my friends are into the party scene, and you would probably find us doing homework and playing Cranium most weekends. However, you can always find people uptown.

Thanks for responding. That makes me feel better. What are your majors? Mine would be political science.
