<p>This is pretty self-explanatory. I am just looking for any opinions on how the social life is different at Northwestern as opposed to Cornell.

<p>Both schools are excellent from a social point of view. I think Cornell students are a bit more laid back and NU students tend to be more pre-professional and intense. Also, Cornell students are generally quite liberal whereas Northwestern students span the spectrum and are generally only slightly left of center. Both schools have great undergraduate cultures. I think one of the main distinctions between the two is location. NU is only 10 miles from downtown Chicago whereas Cornell is more rural. As such, a lot of Cornell social activities take place on campus whereas at NU, a lot of students do their own thing in Chicago.</p>
