What probing questions can I ask, while on campus visits, to determine the social climate of a college (meaning politically or religiously liberal, conversative or moderate)?

Do regional cultural differences come up often, as a problem for kids in adjusting to college life?

Usually political viewpoints aren't a big thing on campus, but if you want to seek out that kind of thing and get involved, then there's always clubs and such.

I find the various books by Fiske, Princeton, etc., when interpreted as a whole, to do a decent job. They nail the four colleges/universities that I have been associated with. Also, while on campus, be sure to listen to the college radio station - you can access many on-line - and read the paper. Also, what kind of clubs do they have and which club(s) have been allocated space. For a review of conservative colleges see 'Choosing the Right College'. For a list of more liberal colleges, see the book published by 'Advocate'.

Great link...thanks!
