Hey, I just got accepted to UPenn early decision. I heard about the huge presence of greek life on campus. I am wondering whether the student body at large is homophobic or not. Also if one are gay, can one still have “the great Penn social life.”

Why should being gay make any difference? If you are one of those militant gays who pushes your gayness in everyone's face and makes sure that everyone and his mother know that you are proud to be a homosexual, then you probably aren't going to have too many strait friends.

However, if you're chill about it and if you don't broadcast it more than strait people broadcast their heterosexuality, you should be fine. There definitely is an accepted LGBT presence on campus (they just made co-ed dorm*rooms* for the LGBT community).

yeah from what i've seen the gay community at penn has a pretty decent social life among themselves...they have a place to go on fridays (gay friday's at cliffs) which I think is some sort of gay bar/club. There are also some other gay clubs in center city. I don't really see much homophobia on campus...everyone seems pretty accepting of gays. You should be fine.
