How socially diverse is Conn? I've applied because I'm interested in Conn's strong IR and study abroad programs. I am not from New England, don't dress preppy very often (though I certainly own some american eagle polos), and am not interested in varsity athletics. I may do club skiing at Conn, but not much more than that..

Are there other types of kids at Conn besides the wealthy, new england, prep school grads? How socially diverse and accepting is the campus? Are races tolerated? Are alternative sexualities tolerated? Idk if it's worth mentioning, but I'm a bisexual male and do not want to be discriminated against at Conn (though from what I read, Conn is "decidedly liberal.")

Excuse me, I forgot to mention, the above is a letter written by my friend who asked me to post the letter on the Connecticut College forum. I personally am not applying to Connecticut College, my friend is.

I have since asked him to join the site, which he may indeed do. Still, it is for this reason that any advice about Connecticut College is needed and needed quickly!

Just for some back round info, I'm a white male from California. In my junior year. I'm taking the SAT this spring with subject tests over the summer. My current GPA is at around a 3.9, so Conn shouldn't be too big a stretch for me. My first choice is actually Tufts (in case you couldn't tell by the screen name, haha.)

Yeah, but I am indeed a bisexual male. I'm into the performing arts. I definetely want to major in IR or Political Science in college, and am interested in studying abroad. I became attracted to Conn because 1.) It's in the NE and 2.) it has strong programs in those areas.

Still, Conn feels a little less accepting than other schools I'm looking at (Tufts, Vassar, NYU, Swarthmore, Bard, Skidmore, Sarah Lawrence). How accepting is Conn? I want to be able to feel comfortable in my sexuality in college, so tolerance and diversity is important to me. Is Conn a liberal leaning school?
