My son got accepted to ASU and is trying to make his final decision between ASU and another school. Since we toured the school during pandemic, it was hard to get a feel for the social life there. What do ASU students do on the weekends? How is the Greek life at ASU? Do students attend football games, basketball games, etc.?
Arizona State University (ASU) has a well deserved reputation as a party school. While this label does not apply to students in the Honors College and to those who want a less social college experience, social opportunities are available to all.
I had many friends attend ASU and I used to travel there a lot for business. The social scene is very lively! Like other colleges on the western half of the country, kids are not fanatical about sports. They attend for fun but are not too bothered if the home team loses. I am not sure if this matters at all but I remember thinking every time I visited that ASU had the prettiest female students…for context I am from SoCal and attended UCSD and UCLA.
I would add to the other two responses that there are a ton of clubs. My oldest was in the Ultimate Frisbee Club. They travel to a number of tournaments. There are two teams, the ‘A’ team is by invitation only after tryouts. The ‘B’ team is for those who don’t get invited to ‘A’ and want to learn the sport. ASU has a number of other clubs/sports that vary in intensity. Several Engineering groups have clubs for robotics, rockets and planes.
