Social Life at Georgetown

I'm a very social person. I got into the SFS EA and am seriously considering Georgetown, but I'd like to know more about the social life. Any current students on here who'd care to enlighten me?

If you want helpful responses, it’s best to be more specific. Georgetown has a good social life, but I’m not quite sure what you want info about.

I want to know about parties. What are they like? Do freshmen have an active social life? How many nights a week do freshmen go out?Do guys and girls hang out together?

Georgetown can sometimes be a party school. We don’t have frats or sororities, so clubs and sports teams usually take that role. Parties are usually big on the weekends. Thursday night is a big bar night. If you don’t have a fake id and you’re one of the kids that goes out a lot, you will have one by October. You can go out as much or as little as you want. I’m a freshman and usually go out about twice a week, but i know some people that go out a lot more or a lot less. It’s totally up to you.

How’s Georgetown clique-wise? Is getting into parties difficult? This is probably more of a girl-oriented question…

If by “cliques” you mean exclusivity within friend groups, I would say, among the people I associated with, that freshman year, that didn’t exist at all. Friend groups form pretty solidly by sophomore year, but people are still pretty inclusive, and you change friends throughout college usually anyway as you change and grow.

Getting into parties is really easy for girls. It’s the freshman guys that have problems.

Oh man.

I think freshman guys probably have that problem everywhere though. lol

Yeah, I agree. If you want to save yourself some trouble at Gtown, either make a ton of female friends to party with or become really active in the clubs that throw the parties.
