<p>im looking at umiami as a safety, plus i know they are fairely generous with merit-based aid. i have this image of the school being kind of rich and snooty, is this wrong? can someone who has been there or knows people there kinda describe the social atmosphere there?</p>
<p>I wouldn't say overly snobby, but the majority of the "canes" are rather wealthy. There is great diversity on the campus. I love just about everything about it. It was my safe safety as well (I got into Cornell) but I have fallen in love with it ( and my 3/4 tuition ) and I am probably going! Dave.</p>
<p>Trust me, unless you hide in your room all day and night, the social scene can be very good!</p>

<p>I have a feeling that it is really easy to get distracted at UM. I am a premed, trying to maintain a 3.7 GPA. How hard is that at a school like Miami, where there are so many possibilities for fun? Are the classes graded on a curve?</p>
