can slo students or visitors comment on the social life and activities at slo? is san luis obisbo a small, college town? or is there alot to door outside of school? what do slo students do during their free time both on and off campus (parties on/off campus, concerts, anywhere to hang out? how far is the beach?) also, how is the workload at slo (computer engineering major)? do alot of the students simply stress school and only school - or is the atmosphere chill and laid back (study hard, party hard)? thanks

When someone says college town that is a good thing. It means the town caters to the students. That is exactly the environment you want to be in. There will always be plenty to do and your school will not be a commuter school. Your peers, like you will be there in the town to keep it active and fun. College towns are also generally very safe environments without any urban blight or suburban sprawl.

yes san luis obispo is a small college town. but that is a good thing. the town is beautiful and there is a lot to do outside of school. off campus there is pismo beach 10 minutes away. there are also concerts in the town and on campus occasionally. im not a computer engineering major but after taking several computer engineering classes i would say that there is quite a bit of work. i wouldn't say that a lot of students stress school. honestly though i have found computer engineering to be quite a bit of work but then again i have professor that's a jerk. the atmosphere here though tends to be study hard and party hard. i won't lie, engineering here is challenging.
