anyone has any comments about the social life at UNC?

when i visited, UNC seemed way more lively & fun than Duke, and duke has built a rep. for being a bit of a party school. but UNC definitely seems like they're hard workers & hard partiers too.

UNC can be what you want it to be (as can Duke and most other schools...)

there are a lot of parties at UNC and you can party all the time (and get a 1.3 GPA like one of my brother's friends) or you can party sometimes and still manage to do well.

If you mean social life not including parties, (which would be nice because most people assume that social life = drinking only) then UNC has a lot of opportunities (as does almost any school).

with 16000 undergrad I'm sure you can find people to hang out with on the weekends

Social life here is what you make it. Some people love it while others hate it. Thursday nights are big party nights. There are many frat and house parties around Chapel Hill. There are also many bars and clubs on Franklin and many other things to do around the triangle. I think the only complaint comes from minorities b/c there are not many things catered to those students off campus.

I am currently at UNC and the social life here is really good. When the weather is nice there are a lot of parties and people everywhere (esp on Franklin Street). When it gets a little colder people tend more thostay in the dorms or go to concerts...there is always something to do. I find myself torn a lot between two or three different options.
