Social Life at WFU

Hi, I'm an Asian American from the Northeast and I'm interested in applying for Wake ED. But before I apply, I want to know more about the student body at Wake Forest. I've heard some good and bad things about WFU, but I want to ask it here to see if I'm a good fit for WFU.
I understand that the majority of students are white but that doesn't matter to me. What matters most is the personality of the student body. I want to know if the students at WFU will treat me differently since I'm from the Northeast and Asian. In addition, I also want to know if the stereotypes about WFU students being rich, conservative, and ultra-right wing Republican are exaggerated. I think it's exaggerated but I want to hear it from the current and past students.
Lastly, I want to know more about the social life. I’ve done research on this before, but I’m interested about what other people have to say about it. Is WFU dominated by Greek life as some stereotypes say? And how fun is dorm-life and the city of Winston-Salem?
Thanks in advance.

It seems like there are more people from the northeast than any other region in the country. So you’ll fit in with that regard. As for political orientation, there isn’t one. There are liberals and conservatives, but nobody talks about politics. And yes it is dominated by greek life, but that is part of the fun. Whatever image you have of greek life, I’d throw it out the window and just let your personal experiences with wake’s greek life determine what you think of it. Greek life doesn’t have to be bad.

I’m a 2018 student and I agree a lot with what the previous post has said. Greek life is the major social scene, at least all I’ve discovered so far. I don’t know of many people who head out to Winston-Salem. The dorms here are great and everyone gets along. Politics isn’t an issue. I’ve me more people from NJ, NY, and Connecticut than anywhere else (with the exception of NC). People here are very rich. I am not, and its not an issue, but as I stare out the dorm window I see 5 Audi’s a couple BMW’s a few Mercedes. Theres still a couple Honda’s and Toyota;s, but this should give you an idea of how well to do people are here. Wake can be a lot of fun, I’m less than a month in and am already going back to these website to try and let people like you (and like I was a year ago) know that Wake is the best choice. Academics are second to none, and the social aspect is better than any other school of this caliber. Go Deacs

Cool, sounds like an excellent school to attend. And thanks for your opinions on WF because they really help me determine the school that best fit my needs. Seems to me that Wake Forest is my ideal school since it values both a student’s social life and academics. WF is definitely one of the schools I’m going to apply to.
