Social life at Williams?

I hate to be this person but... How's the party scene at Williams? I'm obviously not expecting it to be like WVU or UMiami or anything but I do enjoy going out with friends so I'm curious about what it is like socially/on weekends. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Mostly confined to dorms–there’s no real bar scene to speak of, and certainly no “clubs” haha.

There is usually at least one campus-inclusive dance party with a DJ each weekend (but notably not always), often hosted by the All Campus Entertainment board (ACE) or otherwise hosted by other student groups (e.g. BSU, QSU). They get mixed reviews, but many of my friends find that they satisfy their need to meet people and blow off steam. Nothing off campus besides a couple of bars geared towards serving the townies. Many students party in dorm spaces in small to mid-sized groups. Drinking age laws are not strongly enforced by security, as per the unsaid administrative policy that student responsibility is more of a priority than actual law enforcement. Athletes (half of the student body) tend to party more exclusively with their teammates according to my personal observations.

All in all, the oft made claim that Williams students tend to work hard and party hard is indeed true; but I’ll clarify that this is true of only most students, as there is a sizable minority of non-partiers and non-drinking socialites.

Thanks for your input! That’s basically what I’d heard from a student but he wasn’t the most outgoing person in high school so I wanted to see if there was another perspective

Sure thing! Let me know if you have any other questions.
