Social Life @ CMC? Eats?

How's the social life at CMC? I hear its a partying school, but the fun remains inside the 5Cs, as Claremont is a pretty boring town.

Also, are there any good places to eat in claremont or on campus?

I've visited campus a few times and eaten in a really good italian restaurant in town and the dining hall, which I thought was exceptional. And for people who want something different, the meal plan allows you to eat in any of the 5C dining halls. (I hear Scripps is the best.) You have plenty of options

I've eaten at the Scripps dining hall and a Pomona dining hall. Both were really good. In the town (about 5 minutes walking distance) there are a fair number of restaurants. I've liked the ones I've eaten at. There's a falafel one, a really nice sandwich place, and this bar and grill with HUGE portions.
As far as the social life goes... well I've heard good things. My friends down there seem to really enjoy the school. And they do say "Work Hard, Play Hard" but I don't have any first hand experience!

the food @ cmc is the best, i think princeton review ranks them top 10 in food in their best college thing, also top 10 in housing.....
i visited, town seems kind of the old ones still with mom and pop stores and small narrow streets. = boring

When I visited, the town wasn't very...interesting. Along the way, I saw a Baskin Robbins, Realtor's office, and an Albertson's. I didn't see it, but I heard there was a Target there as well. Although the town itself is kind of boring, it's only a 20-30 minute drive from LA.

The town is small but within walking distance-good bakeries, restaurants and sport's bars, great farmer's market on weekends. The town and college relations are actively improving as the schools are focusing on this. I recently saw signs for plans for a movie theatre within walking distance in the town. Within driving distance are Cosco, Malls, Walmart etc AND LA is close as is Santa Monica, a fun place to browse . Food at Scripps is fantastic especially if you like healthy and there is variety at all the 5 college dining halls. I lmpw Pomona and possibly the others have free snack every school night at 10 which makes for a great study incentive, study until 9:45, take a break to socialize and then go back to it. I get the impression there is a study hard all week and then party hard on weekends philosophy.
