Social life for NON Greeks

How’s the social life at FSU and/or UF if you aren’t Greek life? I’m definitely not joining a frat but I’d like a fun college experience. How much of the FSU student population are Greek?

Thanks!

Aren’t there student clubs and organizations, honors societies, club sports you can join? Follow your interests and most likely you will find several people with similar interests that way.

Thanks. I’ll probably join the weightlifting club, maybe swimming, and attempt events. Do girls associate with non Greek guys?

So the first thing you’re gonna learn at college is to leave pre-conceived ideas at the door. “Do girls associate with non Greek guys?” Not if the only thing going for you is that you hate the Greek system for whatever reason. Also, like. Don’t join a club just cause you think girls are gonna go for you I promise they can see right through that.

Only 20% of FSU students are involved in Greek life - that’s 80% of students who aren’t. FSU offers clubs, intramurals, professional fraternities, music, free theatre shows, you name it. It’s a university with 40,000 students - I promise there’s more to do than just go to frat parties. But again, not all fraternities are “Frat.”

Your social life is what you make of it. If you go in thinking the only things to do involve the Greek system then yeah you’re gonna have a super boring time at college. If you go in willing to try new things and new clubs then you’re gonna have the time of your life! The only barrier in college is yourself

Thanks pg96fsu. Are you a student there? I thought I read somewhere that the split was about 55/45 in favor of Greek. I’d like to join he weightlifting club while I’m there.

How are the free on campus gyms?

People ask a similar question about the dorms: “which one is the most social?” and the answer there is that a dorm is as social as you make it.

With the question of “how is the social life?” it’s as social as you want it to be and as social as you make it. I can almost guarantee there’s a club or organization for your major, one more for your minor, and about a dozen dedicated to things that you enjoy.

[There’s 818 listed Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) on FSU’s campus](- Nole Central). There’s something there for everyone- you just have to find the ones that speak to you.

I am a student here, and my on-campus job gives me a lot of information about the school - the 20% figure may varry by 1-2%, but it’s the most accurate.

The on-campus gyms are awesome! There’s two: the Leach and the Health and Wellness Center. The Leach is going to have literally hundreds of free-weights and machines, an indoor track, a swimming pool, sauna, and courts for racquetball, basketball, volleyball, badmitten, and squash; it also has dozens of cardio machines. The HWC is going to have less machines, but it’s also a lot less busy. It has free weights, cardio machines, and one of each of the most popular free-motion machines. Each student also has access to free personalized training during their time at FSU

Thanks to everyone. Your responses are very reassuring.
