I wouldn't worry about that, plenty of nice people to mix with at RPI. Also any type of person that you don't like is easily avoidable. I'd highly recommend the school (not that it being my school isnt a factor =P)

Has anyone noticed the dates on the first few posts of this thread? They are from 2005!

So you don't have much to worry about, they'd be graduating this year... haha

actually i'm kind of glad, that might mean that things have changed some since 2005

I sure hope they have. I'm a girl who will hopefully be attending, want to study game design, and I actually take care of myself physically-- I'm probably the furthest thing from a manly-chick. I'm hoping this school won't be the thoroughly horrible experience for women that posters here have made it out to be. :/

@ completelykate - me too. Us girls should band together.

Do not worry about those posts. I am currently an RPI student and I must say that while at first you do see a lot more guys around campus, my friends are about half girls and half guys. I think it's more about who you choose to spend your time with. And completelykate, there are many girls on campus that like to take care of themselves physically, so there is nothing to worry about!

Don’t Russell Sage students come to the campus? Its only about 800 meters? What is their census; RPI is over 5000

Maybe, but in my four years there I have met only two Russell Sage people (once visiting our chess club, the other time asking for directions to a frat party). Perhaps things are quite different at said parties…
