So I, just like many other people, have heard that UCSD is dead socially. Just want some honest opinions on people's experiences. Basically I'm talkin parties. Also, how is the greek life at SD? is it worth it? Is that a way to have a "fun" friday night?

it’s been covered before: [College Confidential - Search Results](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/search.php?searchid=29455791)

Yayyyyyy Greek life! You should definitely go greek. Feel free to ask me any specific questions.

What are the different frats? what are their differences and which is the best?

This is IFC’s website: [UCSD IFC](http://www.ifcucsd.org/) and you can find information on which fraternities UCSD has under the “Chapter Profiles” link on the left. The “best” fraternity is obviously completely subjective - they all have a different vibe to them, are known for different things, etc. The best way to determine which one YOU fit into best is to meet guys and go through rush. During zero week and first week of fall quarter, all the fraternities will have booths set up on library walk - this is a good chance to scope them out, ask any questions, and get an idea which ones you’re interested in rushing. Then around second-third week is their actual rush week. You choose which daily rush events you want to attend with which fraternities, and by the end of the week one or more of them will (ideally) extend a bid to you!

Ok sweet. Im also wondering about fraternities cost wise. Are they really expensive? like do you know a ballpark sum that is general for them?

^^ The median is $900 per year

It can be as cheap as $600 per year though. Anywhere from 6-900. Which is really good considering at campuses with actual fraternity houses you can end up paying over $2,000 a semester!
