So I applied to Tufts ED (and I'm still waiting to hear back), and a lot of the reviews I've read on college prowler had some pretty bad things to say about the social life at Tufts. Is it really that hard to find a party (or a decent one)? Like I'm not the most outgoing person ever, and the friends I've been around for most of my life have been pretty nerdy, but we still liked going to parties and doing stuff evert weekend. And can someone verify the "Tufts goggles" thing to me? Because I can't see how certain colleges attract students of different attractiveness-levels. Thanks!

Hi! I was in pretty much your same shoes when I came to college–I’m not a party animal, but I wanted some semblance of social life. So far, I have been very happy with Tufts nightlife (although I’m a freshman who hasn’t had much time to become jaded yet, so I might be slightly biased).

Tufts does have Greek life, and the frats are responsible for a few of the parties on the weekends. Freshman boys often have trouble getting into these. However, I’ve found that parties at upperclassmen friends’ houses are often more fun (and better lit, more comfortable, etc.) than sweaty, crowded frat parties. And honestly, sometimes nights where you go out to dinner with your hall and end up watching a movie are equally as fun. Essentially, there’s a party scene if you want it, but there are always other events going on (concerts, comedy shows, dance performances, cookie decorating, you name it). Plus, if you have great friends, every night ends up being fun no matter what you do.

As for “Tufts goggles,” I don’t think they exist. There are thousands of undergrads here, and more than plenty of them are good-looking (in the most objective, traditional way possible). Fear not!

I hope this helps!
