i am thinking about going to wake this fall, but feel like social life is either "on campus in a dorm" or in a car going to a strip mall for a restaurant...where is the college town...winston/s too far.....nobody seems to miss it...no fraternity houses either...whats the deal?

hahha. thats EXACTLY what I thought when I decided on Wake (it was the only real downside) but I finding the campus to be the opposite of what I expected.

Seriously. In HS I had half the social life I had here. My problem at the moment is actually finding the time to study because I have so many fun things to do! I'm always having go to the library...because otherwise I'd get no work done...

Yes, Winston is not a college town like UVA or Harvard. Winston is special though. If you chose Wake ( am I am biased in saying "Yes!Yes!") You will find that night fraternity/sorority parties are often held in locations about town. I sometimes go to comedy shows and 'mellow mushroom" (AMAZING pizza) downtown. If you want to go out to winston you will find a crowd that does.

In all honesty though, its a lot of fun around campus. Fraternities have parties off campus (and they aren't usually far away). Its quite easy to get a ride to them and some are a short walking distance away. Sororities and frats do have hall-housing on campus ( actually, one of the sororities has their own house). Its fun b/c even if you aren't greek, you get to hang out with the people in greek-life. I'm in a sorority and cannot believe how much there is to do here. I had one boring weekend my entire time here and that shouldn't count b/c I was sick!

i've heard that by the time people are juniors/seniors at wake, they start to get really tired/bored of the social scene. is this true at all?
