I wanna know if there is alot of stuff to do social at the university as in parties , activites, sororities, Sports and are sororitiesthe main social scene, is there a really big social life or is it just a very strong emphasis on academics

Socially Emory is what you want to make of it....Students go out every day of the week, however, Tuesday (virginia highlands), Thursday (club night), Friday (Frats/Maggies/off campus parties), and Saturday ((Frats/Maggies/off campus parties) Are the popular days. Nobody really goes to sporting events considering it is Division III sports and nobody really cares. I know lots of people who never go out to parties and never reallly socialize, however, most all freshman try out and see what they like whether that be the Greek scene and so forth. I would say that a lot of people who do decide to join a sorority or frat gain a lot of friends within those groups, and tend to stick with them.

Academics are big here on campus of course its a top 20 school...I've gotten to the point where i can study a few days before an exam and be fine, but most freshman spend a lot of time in the library, this however, doesnt usually lead somebody to avoid all social contact. I would say 20 percent of your time is spent doing work and the other 80 percent is just doing what you want to do! yay! It's all about planning and knowing your strengths and weaknesses.

By the time you become a sophomore or junior you will come to the conclusion that all frat parties are the same damn thing and you wont attend them as often. Atlanta is a great place! It is very easy to explore and have a great social life outside of Emory!
