Social Life

Hey,

I was just curious about the social life at Rochester. Is there a lot of a partying? A little? Are sports a big thing there? Any information about it would be wonderful.

social life? haha not really, as a freshman that is cus u live on campus. there are frat parties, but cheap beer and dirty smelly basements gets old. at least for me.

but u will make good friends if u try. their are snobs but what place doesn't?

What are you looking for? Parties at the frat houses? Hanging out with people with similar interests or on your hall? Shopping on weekends?

My ds#2 is a freshman and is having a blast. There are 2-3 freshman on his floor who visit the frat houses for their parties on weekends. There are also non-frat parties, e.g., Drama House parties. My ds is not into parties but more into doing different things with his hallmates (co-ed). Here's a list of things he has been doing: movies, meals (on or off campus), bowling, racquetball, standing long jump competition, fencing, starting a club, drumming, plays, trading drum lessons for piano lessons with hallmate, computer and video gaming, traying (snow-dependent, of course). He has not shown much interest in the team sports there.

My ds#1 is a UR junior and more of a quiet introvert. He is in the Glee Club and planning on being more active in fencing.

So, there is no lack of fun stuff to do. The social scene depends on your interests and personality. Of course, the juniors and seniors may have less time to take in as many fun activities as the freshmen and sophomores. I don't think you will be bored.
