How is the social life at Penn, are the a lot of good parties activities and stuff to do that people get involved or is it strict academics???

Penn is known as the "social Ivy", so you figure it out!

I was actually just at Penn this past weekend. It is very social, but i wouldnt necessarily call it a party school. The girls are not that attractive, but if your applying to Penn i would hope thats not all you are looking for. As far as, drinking(underage included)/other illegal activities, they do exist but tehy do not overflood the campus. If you are the party type, you will find parties. If you are not they are easy to avoid: a great combination in my opinion. The kids are great though, really nice, and smart too. Overall, i think it would be a good fit for almost anyone.

Also, there are a few schools in the same city so if the scene on the campus isn't that great, you can always walk over and make some new friends

It depends SO much on the social scene you're looking for. Penn is a big enough school that it can offer pretty much everything in the way of social life. If you're into partying, heavy drinking, drugs, want to go out 4 or more nights a week, etc. you will be able to find that. If you're anti-alcohol and would rather stay in and watch movies, whatever, you will find that too. I'd say the majority of students are moderate drinkers who go out maybe 2 nights a week to decent parties. I think the "party school" reputation is overstated- there is just a very visible minority of some of the Greeks and athletes who know how to go out hard.
