So with the relatively limited amount of dorm space available compared to the amount of students at the university, what kind of social life is there compared to bigger american state schools? Is there a good residential community or does it feel like the campus empties out after classes end?

I’m wondering about this too. Do a lot of people hang out on campus/go to sporting events or do most commute or go into the city?

On the same boat over here, i know very little about the social atmosphere at UBC, please somebody enlighten us…pretty please :)

Anyone???

I visited UBC and posted a visit report, so you can look at that: [The University of British Columbia Visit - noimagination](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/vibe/the-university-of-british-columbia/4227544.html)

UBC is a commuter school, but many people do live on-campus and I daresay you could have a good time in the dorms. Vancouver is a great (though not cheap) city, and much of the school’s social life seems to be centered on doing things in the city (or going up to Whistler).
