<p>Actually, in recent years, Ivies and other top schools have shifted from wanting well-rounded students to well-rounded student bodies. So your EC’s should have some uniformity to them: in other words, you don’t need to be lit magazine editor, math/science team member, and football captain to impress them.</p>
<p>And also, the Ivies get lots and lots of Student Council Presidents, so that’s not really a huge boost.</p>
<p>Indeed, what you DO as the president is more important. But you don’t necessarily have to have uniformity to standout as long as you’ve accomplished something in that particular activity.</p>

<p>While it’s okay to have one or two stray EC’s, most should be somehow related. But yes, it is far, far better to be strong in one or two EC’s than to have a laundry list of participation in ten.</p>
