Preface this thread with saying that if you don’t “do” social media or follow any influencers, totally fine, this is not the thread for you.
I’ve been on the lookout for a new kitchen canister set - you know, flour, sugar, coffee kind of business. I did NOT want anything that said the words on it because honestly I don’t always stick to that prescribed plan!
Last night one of my fav Instagram accounts posted a lovely copper canister set. She does a reverse “dupe” situation - offers up two choices of an item - a more expensive choice and an inexpensive choice. Pick your pleasure.
The dupe is on it’s way to me arriving tomorrow.
What have you been influenced to buy via social media - hits or misses? Large items or small? Costly or not?
My Eufy (robot vacuum) was influencer based. I didn’t buy it off the bat but after several “sightings” and the right price I caved in. Love my girl Daisy! (the Eufy’s name).
I don’t really know any influencers to follow but I find that product videos on the Nordstrom site are very helpful because they show fabric in motion, how stretchy (or not) it is, etc. So I guess Nordstrom dot com is an influencer of sorts?
There maybe some on Poshmark now since it’s a few years old! I just love mine. I even found the black and white animal print scarf to style it exactly like she did.
I remember you like very well made clothing. I do follow one influencer I just can’t afford the stuff she pushes, but I absolutely love her style. “So Heather”.
The country music artist Maren Morris (she’s been in the news lately for an ongoing feud with a country star’s wife) said one way she keeps her skin gorgeous are these super-cheap dermaplaning razors. I can’'t afford expensive skin care stuff so I bought them – 40 blades for $8.99. I do think they work!
I bought some tulle on sale from Hobby Lobby for 30c a yard after seeing an Instagram post, this person lives near me and she covers her whole peach tree with tulle.
My other favorite person is Jacques Pepin, budget Tuesday, I love how frugal his recipes can be.
I started subscribing to Purple Carrot (vegan food + recipes to make amazing dishes) after watching Portia DeRossi show how she was learning to cook by using the service during the height of Covid days. I’ve continued subscribing although recently took a break after being hospitalized for 3 weeks - I haven’t gotten back to preparing full meals yet.
If anyone had asked me if I had a favorite YouTuber a year ago I’d have laughed in your face at the absurdity. Fast forward and now I have a few. One is Becky from Acre Homestead and she links a lot of the items she uses and while I don’t home stead or garden I do cook and really liked the thin shaped measuring spoons either her or her mom uses so I bought them. Best $10 I’ve spent lately!
