Social/Party Scene

I might apply ED this fall so this is really important to me, thanks!!
What do most people do on the weekends? Is it unusual for someone to stay in on a Friday/Saturday night and just hang out with friends and watch movies or something?
For current students: what is your typical weekend like and how often do you go out of Amherst to go to one of the 5 CCs or Northampton, etc.
What are the parties like (and the social scene as a whole) now that the socials have been taken down? Are there cool themed parties with less of a focus on substance use or are they mostly like the average frat party, and how big are they usually?
Any comments will help!

There is great diversity at Amherst in terms of partying. Some people never party, some always party, some sometimes party, some party at other schools. I’d say the majority of people go out or do something Fri/Sat night, whether it’s partying or going into town or hanging out with friends. If you are on an athletic team, it will generally be easier for you to get invited to/attend parties (mixers, mainly). With the destruction of the socials (RIP) the partying scene has definitely taken a hit, but there is still some pretty big parties that go on in Jenkins, Hitchcock and Seelye.

My typical weekend consists of sleeping in (LOL), relaxing, finishing up some homework, and hanging out with friends. I’ve left once for the Hampshire Mall and I often go into the town of Amherst once or twice a week.

I don’t go there but have two friends that go there and one seems to mostly hang out with friends in their room and the other goes out several nights a week and parties pretty hard so I assume both extremes exist. Not sure about the norm. but most people were really nice
