Social/Party Scene

Hey all, I've been looking around, and in all the UC colleges I want to go to, I pretty much know their party scene (UCSB, UCSC, SDSU), but I can't find a thread in here to talk about miamis, so maybe some people could enlighten me.

First off, the women. I'm not gonna sugarcoat this at all, I am going to be a college male, some of the best things about college has to be the opposite sex. Being htat we are in miami, I'm sure there are beautiful women everywhere....but I'm asking to make sure that UM isn't the exception to this rule.

The social scene. I'm an african american male, and I love interacting and meeting new people, I don't like to stay cliquish and stick with just one group all the time, I'm very extroverted. So how's that scene down there? Is it integrated and everyone parties with each other, ort is it more isolated?

The party scene. How are your parties like, I mean being in miami with the beaches and all I'm assuming they must be good, but enlighten me please.

Finally, stands on substances down there. Pot, alcohol, etc etc, what's that like? I don't wanna be walking down the block with a crack addict trying to hustle me for money, but at the same time I like stoners and all, so let me know.

Thanks in advance, and congrats to all you all who made it in.

P.S. Today is my birthday woooo!

Well I haven't been to the campus, but I've read about the school and I have a college prowl.er book on UM that talks about all this stuff.

My book rates the girls of UM an A-.....Also 63% of the population is women so there is bound to be thousands of hot chicks.

As for social scene, most people tend to spend their time in Coconut Grove and South Beach. Clubbing is the main aspect of the UM party scene. This is why they received an A+ for nightlife. Also there are numerous frat parties on and off campus. Greek Life received a grade of a B+.

And the campus doesn't seem to be cliquish. The school is very diverse and everyone seems to have a great time with everyone.

Oh and the school has a lot of achohol, but there isn't a big drug scene at all.

And I'm just reminding you, i am not a student i just got this information from the college prowl.er book.

Oh and by the way my b-day is tomorrow.

Nice thanks man, and happy B day tommorow.

Just wondering, what schools in Florida/Cali got A+ s in women and social life, if you dont mind me asking :)

That is the full list......oh and i forgot to say happy b-day to you.

Wow man did you type that out? Thanks alot.

And thanks for the happy b day.

I dunno about that Hampton Univeristy thing. I'm down the block from teh campus working right now, there are some hot girls, but I couldn't believe it having better girls than UM. Then again I don't go to school there a nd my mom and father graduated from there so I guess I'm a bit biased.

No...I copied and pasted it.

As a parent I can only give second hand information, but I'd say that those books that SoCal quoted are pretty on target.

Son says social scene is what you make of it. Clubbing in South Beach can get very expensive so they do that less often than the Grove. I'm told "Monty's" is the place to be....

I do think the alcohol scene is more prevelant than the drug scene although son says it is Miami after all, and once again...it's all about you and what your into. UM's students really seem to be into the Wellness thing. Exercise and the alchohol more than drugs.

I can verify that UM is a very diverse campus, and no matter what race or ethnic background everyone gets along beautifully. They tend to visit each others home countries, learn each others customs, and even have celebrations to learn the different traditions. And as a parent, I hope that I have a chance to meet these wonderful young men and women who my son has become such good friends with.....

I hope you all have a wonderful UM experience.....and happy B'day SoCal18.

1tcm

where did you get that list from?

**************.com

sorry, I guess I can't include a link -

try: **************.com

OK, I guess I can't add ".com"

so go to:

college

pro

wler

dot

com

Then put them all together and you'll have the site.

My son spent 2 1/2 years at UM and I concur with what was mentioned above. There are many, many beautiful girls at UM. The social scene consists of Frat parties, house parties, Coconut Groave and S. Beach all depending on what you're into. Drinking is much more popular than drugs but a good deal of pot smoking goes on too. My son saw no evidence of hard drugs. The campus is in a very nice area of Miami called Coral Gables....no crack dealers to be found. On the way to Coconut Grove there is a run down area that the students avoid. The campus is very diverse and all groups of people do interact with each other and enjoy meeting others from all over the country and the world. If you're as outgoing as you say, you would have no problem having fun at UM.
