social scene at Georgetown

Any current students willing to weigh in?

my friend goes there. she said that the kids are very stereotypical. preppy;nerdy;etc. its also very clique-ey (if thats a word). shes asian and ALL of her friends are asian, except her roommate. but ive heard the girls are hot  lol

but on a serious note, she said that theres plenty of parties. also going out is very expensive. and the campus food isnt great, but not terrible

wrong about everyone being preppy. there are preppy people but they do not hang out exclusively with one another. lots of parties. going out into lcubs and things not expensive if on guestlist - which is not that hard to achieve.

As a current student, I would completely disagree with the notion that campus is cliquey. To me, the fact that we don’t have Greek life contributes to this real communal sense on campus. People can get into almost any party, as opposed to on campuses where frats and sororities dictate who can hang out with who. There really are no cliques, just groups of friends who are close with one another, but that happens anywhere, and should happen at college. These friend groups are by no means cliquey and all bleed into one another.

lol thanks for clearing that up. thats just what i heard :-P

I don’t even go to georgetown yet and had no problem getting into a random party the other weekend. I found everyone to be very friendly!

I have also heard that the drinking culture at Georgetown is pretty prominent…how easy is it for someone who does not drink alcohol, do drugs, or spend every weekend at a party to fit in socially?
