Social Scene at Lafayette

In efforts to narrow down my final college choice I am trying to learn a little more about the social and party scene at the schools I got into. I am just curious if anyone could give me some insight on what the party scene is at lafayette. Also what are the regulations concerning alcohol and what are the punishments for vilolations. Thanks, any info would be helpful

This topic has been addressed on multiple occasions within the Lafayette College message board.

Allow me to direct your attention to post #197 in the thread entitled "I'll Answer Your Lafayette Questions!". There is some very useful information within that thread, but that post immediately came to mind.

FYI, Lafayette College abides by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. So how does that fact translate to drinking on campus, you ask? Well, if you are 21+, you are allowed to consume alcoholic beverages (no kegs) in a private area (no lounges, not outside, etc.). Punishments vary, but usually include some length of a probationary period (a sort of warning), monetary fines, or mandatory educational sessions. It really depends on the severity of any given violation. Incessantly violating alcohol policy could, of course, eventually lead to expulsion from the college.

For more information on the college's policy on alcohol consumption, please review a PDF version of the Lafayette Student Handbook 2006-07 at http://www.lafayette.edu/student_life/download_handbook.html.

If you think of any specific questions about the social scene at Lafayette, just let me know.
